W. Andrew Powell Editor-In-Chief :: Head Cook & Bottle Washer The “brain” behind the operations, Andrew came up for the idea for The GATE in 1999 and hasn’t slowed down since. Andrew designed the site, sells ad space, writes extensively, and also enjoys being The GATE’s main photographer. A “Jack of all Trades”, Andrew is also striving to publish a novel, and work in film as a writer and director.

Christopher Heard Senior Writer :: Film Christopher’s career grew out of a lifetime love of movie history & culture. His first screenplay was optioned at 21, he wrote a twice weekly movie column in a local newspaper that lead to a long, Gemini Award winning stint on the CBC show On The Arts and the creation and co-hosting role on Reel to Real for nine years. Since then Christopher has written books on a number of filmmakers, including Johnny Depp, and currently hosts, writes and co-produces two shows for iChannel.

Christine Estima

Christine is a playwright sleeping on the doorsteps, or the package in some forgotten corner of a railway station. She freelances as a music/film/theatre critic, dramaturg, graduate student, phat actress, and occasional PR lackey. Christine also collects old keys with incongruent teeth, avocado stones, and rice paper. Her favourite time of day is afternoon when the light hits her skin, but you can find her, most likely, in the fridge at 4 am.
