Showcase’s ‘Continuum’ looks delicious

Yesterday I got a little surprise in the mail, and it came courtesy of Showcase’s upcoming new series–the time-travel action show, Continuum.

Set to debut on May 27, I’m already excited about seeing how the series develops–it should be interesting; it’s a show about a futuristic cop after all–but this was just a nice little reminder that there’s more to come.

Inside the black box, which was inside a transparent shipping container, was what looked like a silver-wrapped ball with the words, “Will you change the future or protect the past?”, which will look somewhat familiar to anyone who has seen the promos.

While the silver ball did not turn out to be advanced technology from the future, it was probably a good promo item for me since I’m kind of a choco-holic–inside the silver foil was a chocolate orange. Now I just have to wait for the screener to arrive ahead of the interviews they’re planning later this month with star Rachel Nichols.

Continuum box - the treat

Here’s the official show synopsis: “When a group of fanatical terrorists escapes their planned execution in the year 2077, they vault back in time to 2012 sweeping dedicated City Protective Services officer, Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols), along with them. With unexpected assistance from teen tech genius Alec Sadler (Erik Knudsen) Kiera concentrates on bringing down the terrorists before they can change the course of history forever. Desperate to get back to her husband and son, Kiera impersonates a local law enforcement officer to expedite her investigation, forming an uneasy alliance with her new partner, detective Carlos Fonnegra (Victor Webster).”

In the vacuum that’s existed since Stargate closed shop, it’s amazing to have a new Canadian sci-fi series coming. Hoping there’s more on the horizon too.
