CBC may have made a huge mistake in letting the original Hockey Night in Canada theme get away from them (CTV quite brilliantly picked it up), but there is still hope for CBC to at least get something memorable.

Can someone possibly come up with something as good as the original? I’m not sure, but CBC is trying to find a replacement with the Canada’s Hockey Anthem Challenge, and Michael Kulas has a pretty awesome entry already.

Check it out below – it’s electronic, but imagine it as if it was being performed by a full orchestra…

I don’t think the original theme can be replaced, so to speak. I’m not even sure people should be looking at it that way. The original theme had a great run and is appreciated by a large majority. It won’t be forgotten and the new theme will only serve as something different for the next generation of Hockey Night fans.

That being said, here is my entry: http://anthemchallenge.cbc.ca/mediadetail/289362

Good luck to all those who entered!

    Hi I there,
I really enjoyed hearing Michael’s instrumental ( I heard his gtr/vox theme on cbc’s site) This is what I think of when I heard about the theme contest. I had been woindering where he has been since James split up.
