The Suburbs video by Arcade FireI’ve been focusing on Canadian videos a lot recently, but it seems only fair that following their big Grammy and Brit award wins I would feature one of Canada’s best bands right now: Arcade Fire.

Of course, they don’t seem all that thrilled to be Canadian, which bugs me a bit. They’re apparently more proud to be from Montreal. That’s fine–whatever–it’s not like my opinion matters to them, but it definitely drives me nuts when I’m more proud that a band or artist is Canadian than they are.

Whether anyone is proud of them being Canadian though, this is a great, intriguing, creepy video by the great Spike Jonze, who is still a legend at making killer music videos, even if his full-length films seem to be missing the mark (I hated Where The Wild Things Are, even if I mildly liked his other two films).

Without further ado, here’s “The Suburbs” by Arcade Fire…

Each week in Video Hits I feature a new music video to admire, mock, and discuss. From the great to the awful, whether they’re from twenty years or twenty minutes ago.

For you Canadians out there, the title of this series is totally a tribute to CBC’s original 80s TV series, Video Hits.
