2006_Toronto_International_Film_Festival_posterIt seems very strange to me that Roger Ebert isn’t attending the this year. Every other year I’ve attended I’ve run into him somewhere, and even had a conversation one year after we both saw Underworld. But obviously he’s still recuperating from his surgery. Hopefully he’ll be back on his feet very soon – he’s one of those forces in the media world that just seems to keep everything in order, at least in my mind.

Actually, although I don’t read a lot of other media around this time of year, there’s no way to miss some people’s presence at the festival. My cohort Christopher Heard, who thankfully provides The GATE with lots of awesome coverage, is at the top of that list, but it’s also always interesting to check in on what Toronto Star writers Peter Howell and Geoff Pevere are talking about. When I have time to turn on a I also dig finding out what Liz West has been up to on Star! TV.

But, hopefully there are a few of you out there who like to check in and see what I’ve been doing – it’s definitely appreciated, and while I may not be an Ebert or a Pevere, I love what I get to do every year at the fest.
