Right now I’m finally watching Michael Moore’s Capitalism: A Love Story. I like his movies for what they are, but it is hard to call one of them a “documentary”. Compared to a film like Food, Inc. Moore’s films aren’t exactly “balanced”.
For those of you who’ve seen Tim Burton’s remake of Alice In Wonderland, I’m wondering if anyone else thought they knew the answer to the riddle: “Why is a raven like a writing desk?”
Disney has released a new photo from Tron: Legacy, giving fans another peek at Jeff Bridges’ role in the upcoming sequel.
While no new details have emerged about the film, it’s interesting to note that Bridges’ is wearing an “Identity Disc”.
The night is almost over for this year’s Golden Globes, and I have to give praise where praise is due: Ricky Gervais has been an awesome host. Sure, he’s been drinking on-stage, but he’s been on the ball with the jokes.
Today felt like a very long day, made all the longer by what I can only call an exasperating movie.
At 7:30 tonight I was at Warner’s public screening for The Book of Eli, which stars Denzel Washington as a religious wanderer with a crazy kung fu grip. The story falls under the usual “post-apocalyptic America” plot where a long-forgotten war has left the country, and most likely the world, devastated and practically unlivable, which effectively ends all civilization as we know it.
Damn. So, apparently Spider-Man 4 is a dead deal. It was bug-sprayed. Stepped-on. Swatted. Flushed down the ethers of possibility.
This has to be the quote of 2009, my friends, courtesy of Kathryn Bigelow’s The Hurt Locker.
Jeremy Renner as bomb squad Staff Sergeant William James…
Looking back on 2009, I’ve been making notes on all of my favorite films of the year, and while I can’t really count Food, Inc. as one of the best DVD or Blu-ray releases, since it had little in the way of tremendous extra features, it was definitely one of the best documentaries.
Don’t judge me too harshly, but I’m currently watching the hilariously awful The Final Destination on Blu-ray, which reaches a whole new level of ridiculousness (this is the fourth film, after all). And yet somehow, I still have to admit, it’s pretty entertaining.
