Ahhh – so many great voices united. Of course the Josh takes my heart. Thank you for posting this. I, unfortunatelly, was not overly impressed with this new version but applaud the artists for the many hours they dedicated and, as Josh mentioned, “Everyone left their ego’s at the door”. I know many more funds will be gained for the people of haiti.

Thank you for posting this. My family and I were thinking the exact same thing when it came on. We were only given a few seconds for the “graphic content” warning. It is so sad that this was paralleled within 5 minutes of the proud Olympic games.
It’s shameful that CTV has had to stoop this low for competing media coverage. This was an awful way to end off the opening Olympic ceremony, and I’m sure many children across this nation unfortunately saw the footage.

I’ve called CTV and left a message, as well as emailing all of their programming sections. If any of us want to stop this we need to ALL call now and approach them with our strong concerns.

This really can’t be allowed.

The Vancouver Sun has an interesting piece about this – http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Olympic+tragedy+Death+porn+sharing+news/2557992/story.html – but it has a few stupid statements.

“What is happening is the media are no longer the gatekeepers,” said Hermida. “We are doing our own gatekeeping,” suggesting that people need to decide what we watch. That’s okay if you’re talking about YouTube, but what do you do when the official broadcaster keeps showing the video?

And the media still are the gatekeepers. The Olympics are accredited – you can’t be there unless you were approved, so the MEDIA decided to let this video out and show us these pictures over and over again.

I agree, I saw the footage momentarily after it happened,and needless to say I was sickened by what I saw.As soon as it was reported that the young man had succumbed to his injuries,I was sure that CTV would stop with the footage,but apparently that has’nt happened.Shame on them for showing it and shame on those who are seeking the footage, what is wrong with you people?

Is there an Enterprise near you? Usually head to them when I rent in T.O. or LA. In both the cities the rates are way lower than Hertz/Avis, etc.

I DO NOT like the HIlls, but I’ve seen it a couple of times when my girl was watching. Jayde is definately the hottest of all girls. Maybe not the prettiest, but definately the hottest!

Well, everyone is a critic. The only difference between good critics and bad critics is generally how many films they’ve seen. I’ll never claim to be the best critic in the world, but I’ll happily talk movies with anyone. Just because we differ on movie tastes though doesn’t make one of us the better judge of film.

That said, the concept of religion as a tool, or a MacGuffin in this film’s case, is rare, but that doesn’t make the film stronger. There’s simply very little subtext and the script doesn’t have a deep enough story. Spirituality won’t change that.

Plus, I like great concept films, and ‘The Book of Eli’ had me going for a while, but on top of the weak script, I also thought the ending was patently stupid. Utterly dumb and exactly what I would expect from a stupid action movie. The rest of the film isn’t quite dumb, but the ending doesn’t help disprove that. If you want to see a better example of this kind of film, go watch ‘Children of Men’ or even ‘The Road’.

You’re supposed to be a critic?
I got the feeling the movie wasn’t supposed to be strictly an action thriller at all. It was a movie with a message. It’s a statement about the state of the world as it is now. When I realized the nature of Eli’s book and the antagonist’s reasoning for desiring it, I literally got chills. Virtually nobody has ever even so much as mentioned the issue of misinterpretation, neglect, and misuse of the basic ideals of religion in favor of using it as a political tool or “weapon” in society.
Message aside though, I felt that it was still a very well made movie, but I’ll admit that if you don’t dig deeper into the plot than what’s given to you, the scenes that are supposed to open your eyes metaphorically just end up making you close em literally.
I’d definitely watch this for a 2nd time over Avatar 3D IMAX insert-gimmick-here.
Don’t get me wrong, though, avatar is a 10/10 movie!
My verdict is that you have to at least have a drop of spirituality in you to fully appreciate this movie.
And a drop of religious skepticism.

Like the author I have been a long time BNL fan. I think this new track is very fresh and possibly an indication to a new direction, although one track doesn’t make an album of course.

I personally have fallen for this song and can’t wait to hear the new album and see the guys again when they tour the UK
