Later today, at 1:00 PM (ET), Sonos.com will launch a limited edition version of their speakers: the Sonos Play:1 Tone, which the company has dubbed “[a]n expression of Sonos sound and design in the purest form.”

The speakers feature a compact, minimalist design that is meant to look stylish in any room, and features a tone-on-tone style in either “absolute black or pristine white” with a matte finish.

“We want our products to reframe how people think about technology in the home,” the company said in a statement. “Part of how we do that is by focusing on simple things with innate power. This was our focus on Play:1 Tone. It’s a meditation on essentials.”

A total of 5000 of the speakers will be available only through the company’s website for $250 USD, $280 CAD, €250, and £220, with a limit of two speakers per household.

While the external design of the Tone is unique, the Sonos Play:1 hardware inside is unchanged, including two custom-designed drivers inside each speaker that are powered by dedicated amplifiers, and of course the ability to stream music direct to the speakers from your smart phone, tablet, or computer.
