by W. Andrew Powell

TIFF 2007This is your chance to get involved in one of the biggest cultural events, and celebrity schmooze-fests, in Canada and all you have to do is donate a few hours of your time. The 2007 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is once again looking for those valuable people who help make the festival happen every year: the volunteers.

Last year alone the TIFF had 1,800 volunteers from across Canada and around the world. The festival is also considered one of the biggest film festivals in the world, and is attended by hundreds of the biggest filmmakers, executives, and producers in the business.

Volunteers are needed for a variety of duties and shifts throughout the festival – all you have to do is drop by Roy Thomson Hall (60 Simcoe Street – Artists’ entrance) on the following dates with a résumé, including contact information for three references (work, volunteer, or character) to sign up.

Volunteer Days & Times:
Wednesday, July 18 at 6:30 PM
Sunday, July 22 at 1:00 PM
Wednesday, August 1 at 6:30 PM
Saturday, August 11 at 1:00 PM

Make sure you arrive on time and plan to commit to at least four shifts, plus you’ll be asked to attend training sessions prior to your first shift. Just remember, you must be at least 18 years of age or older to volunteer.
