The MuchMusic Video Awards were the toast of the town yesterday, with dozens of hot celebrities walking the red carpet and greeting their fans before the show.

Give the folks a hand, they know how to throw a party.

For the umpteenth time I attended the annual MuchMusic Video Awards, and while there are always a few bumps on the road, it was an incredible event once again. Most notably I was blown away by how many screaming fans they were able to pack around the stages and on the street at the corner of Queen and John.

Toronto fans were reduced to screaming throngs tonight as the annual MuchMusic Video Awards brought together some of the biggest names in music for a gigantic block party that shut down the corner of Queen and John streets in downtown Toronto.

In just a few hours, downtown Toronto will once again host one of the year’s biggest music parties: the 2010 MuchMusic Video Awards.

There must have been a lot of hoarse fans in Toronto following the 2009 MuchMusic Video Awards, which drew dozens of the world’s biggest pop stars to the corner of Queen and John on Sunday, June 21.

American burlesque group and pop sensations The Pussycat Dolls dropped by MuchOnDemand today, giving fans a taste of what they can expect as they open for Britney Spears this week in Toronto.

Brit rockers Coldplay dropped by MuchMusic’s MuchOnDemand on Thursday before they stepped on stage at the Air Canada Centre for the second night of their sold out shows in Toronto. The band is currently touring in support of their fourth studio album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, which was released earlier this year.

The Jonas Brothers met with excited fans today for Live@Much, with some teens waiting over two days outside of the MuchMusic headquarters for autographs.

One of Toronto’s biggest celebrity events took over the corner of Queen and John as the 2008 MuchMusic Video Awards brought fans and stars together for a night of music. And rain.

The red carpet was a bit of a wash-out as a torrential downpouring of rain soaked the fans, celebs, and even the assembled media-types trying to get their sound bites and photos.

Tonight marks the sixth year that I’ve been covering the MuchMusic Video Awards, and while a lot has changed, it is funny how little seems different.
