The Halifax Citadel in Nova Scotia is an incredible historic site that’s filled with stories. During the day, you can take a stroll and learn about the history of the former military fortification from the interpreters. At night though, the fortress gets a little spooky, and that’s what makes the Halifax Citadel Ghost Tours so much fun.

Cape Breton Island has been on my bucket list for a long time, and I’m finally planning a trip in just a few weeks. It’s going to be a fantastic fall adventure, and I can’t wait to explore Nova Scotia, enjoy incredible east coast meals, and relax on a sea-side hike.
Food lovers, rejoice! Devour! The Food Film Fest returns this week, and it’s what I would call the perfect event for the gastronomically devoted. The 8th annual festival kicks off today and runs until October 28th with a mix of culinary highlights including films, food, and drink in Wolfville, Kentville and Kings County, Nova Scotia.

Halifax, Nova Scotia is a rare example of a historic city that hasn’t lost touch with it’s history, or what it can offer the modern traveler. And while there’s no shortage of chain hotels where you can stay within the city core, there’s also thankfully a couple of unique hotels as well. Out of all of them, if you’re looking for something special, the one that really stands out though is the Lord Nelson Hotel.
