Oliver Stone readies Bush filmmovies

by W. Andrew Powell

Silly and lude comments aside, this makes me chuckle just a little bit. Oliver Stone has plans to release a film on U.S. President George W. Bush before he leaves office next January 2009. In a story over at the Guardian they’re saying Josh Brolin will play the role of Bush and it will be “a fair, true portrait of the man” with “surprises for Bush supporters and his detractors”.

The article goes on to say that the as yet unnamed film will focus on key events in Bush’s life. “How did Bush go from an alcoholic bum to the most powerful figure in the world,” asked Stone. “It’s like Frank Capra territory on one hand, but I’ll also cover the demons in his private life, his bouts with his dad and his conversion to Christianity, which explains a lot of where he is coming from.”

I’m not sure I really give a damn, since I’m not a huge fan of Stone’s work and Bush makes me want to rip every hair out of my head, but it’s bound to make for an interesting exit mood when Bush is finally done in office.
