Saying goodbye

Jean

I know I say this a lot, but it’s hard for me to go really personal in my blog. I always feel like people don’t want to read heavy stuff on an entertainment website, but sometimes I just can’t help but get personal.

This morning I found out that my grandmother, Jean, died in the hospital. She hadn’t been well for ages, but it still was harder to take than I expected. The other difficult part was the fact that she was my last surviving grandparent – and it just made me realize how far I am from my childhood now. I still remember going to her house at different times in the year and just how great her and my grandfather were. Makes me miss my mother’s parents even more too since it’s been so long since they passed away.

Had to share this picture that Aisha took with my father last year when we went home to visit. Hurts to think of how few pictures she let us take of her, but glad for what I have. Not to mention the video I shot one visit when we interviewed her about family history and all. Funny how you can take all of that for granted until it’s too late.
