Wrapping up TIFF 2002

by W. Andrew Powell

I find it hard to believe, but the 2002 Toronto International Film Festival is now all wrapped up. It was a crazy 10 days of events, and even though I didn’t find my way into any of the hip special parties, I did have a great time.

The last event that I was involved with was the screening of Brian De Palma‘s Femme Fatale, an incredible tale that defies classification and runs between a variety of themes. It was amazing and is bound to surprise anyone the way it sneaks up and twists around on you, just as you think you’ve got everything figured out.

Then, on Saturday I went to get some photos from the red carpet at the final Gala presentation of Femme Fatale, and I have to tell you, I got some great shots! All the big names were there, including De Palma, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, and Antonio Banderas. Plus, John Stamos, Melanie Griffith, and Michael Douglas made appearances.

So, that’s actually it for this year. This blog won’t be active any more, but you can check back on my coverage for updates over the next week that will include the interviews, additional photos, reviews, and news.

Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you here next year! (Special thanks to all the publicity people who helped me out, including Indie PR, Rock-It Promo, and everyone at the TIFF press office who helped get me all the information and contacts I needed.)
