Country artist Karli June has gone acoustic with her latest single, “Home Team,” and it’s a beautiful, earthy track that feels like it’s filled with memories. The single is the followup to her single “Heart Drunk”, and it’s also part of her new Unplugged Sessions.

It feels like the Canadian singer and songwriter has put all of herself in the new track. “Home Team” is a wonderfully personal song, especially with this acoustic session that’s so simple and direct. The song puts you front and centre, right in the space with her.

“I hope ‘Home Team’ feels like being in a packed hockey area in your hometown,” June said. “I hope it feels like driving in the laneway of the place you grew up. I hope it feels like popping a bottle of champagne celebrating a graduation or a wedding. This is what inspired the song.”

“Recording the vocals during the pandemic, when I couldn’t be close to my loved ones, reminded me that they are always close, even when we can’t be together physically–and I hope everyone can feel that too.”

“Writing this with Karen Kosowski and Tori Tullier felt like a special day. Here is to all of the people that are there with us through the ups and downs – our hometeams.”

The single was recorded live at Revolution Recording Studio in Toronto and filmed by Tour Bus Entertainment. You can also hear “Heart Drunk” in rotation on CBC Sirius XM Country.

June earned a finalist spot on the Jim Beam Virtual National Talent Search with “Heart Drunk.” The video for “Home Team” is the first of four acoustic videos that she’ll be releasing this year.
