‘Transformers’ arise for big screen battle

Transformers PosterOn July 3 the long awaited live action adaptation of Transformers will make its debut at a cinema near you, and if the buzz is any indication, it’s going to be one of the biggest film of the year. Based on the cartoon from the 80s, and the toy line that’s still going strong, Transformers tells the tale of two rival alien robot groups, the Autobots and the Decepticons, fighting it out on planet Earth.

The story has that classic core concept of good versus evil that makes for great popcorn film, and it’s been brought to life by some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Directed by legendary action director Michael Bay, the film was executive produced by Steven Spielberg, but real fans will probably be most excited by the fact that Canada’s Peter Cullen reprises his role as the voice of Autobot leader Optimus Prime. Hugo Weaving provides the voice of rival Decepticon leader Megatron.

Check out photos below of Bay with Transformers star Megan Fox, who plays Mikaela in the film, from a June 11 press conference in Seoul, Korea.
