Fresh details are starting to emerge for this year’s 2007 Juno Awards, and the latest came last night as CTV and the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) announced that Billy Talent and Three Days Grace will perform during this year’s live broadcast, which hits Saskatoon on Sunday, April 1. Also announced was the release of 500 Juno Early Bird Packages which will go up for sale this Saturday, February 3 at 11:00 AM (ET) via Ticketmaster.
Toronto’s Billy Talent are about to embark on a 15-city U.S. tour starting in March in support of their latest album Billy Talent II, which features the hit singles “Devil In A Midnight Mass”, “Red Flag”, and “Fallen Leaves”.
Three Days Grace are currently in the midst of a U.S. tour, and originally shot to the top of the charts after their hit, “I Hate Everything about You”. They’re currently riding the success of their follow-up album, One-X, which has already hit double-platinum status and features the singles “Animal I Have Become”, “Pain”, and “Never Too Late.”
Hosting the live show this year will be none other than Nelly Furtado, who has enjoyed a tremendous year following the release of her latest album, Loose.
For those hoping to attend the Junos, early Bird Packages will sell for $197.25 (with a limit of four per person), and includes one standing room floor ticket to Juno Awards broadcast at the Credit Union Centre, a JunoFest wristband to the musical showcases running on March 30 and 31, and a ticket to Songwriters’ Circle which takes place during the afternoon on Sunday, April 1.
Fans looking for individual tickets will have to wait until next Saturday, February 10 at 11:00 AM (ET), when they can pick up tickets for $80 to $150 each, plus taxes and fees.
The Juno Awards, which celebrate the best in Canadian music, have been travelling across the country for the last few years, picking a new city each year to host in the event. Since 2002, when CTV took over as the broadcaster of the live show, the Junos have been in St. John’s, Ottawa, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Halifax. Head over to www.junoawards.ca for more on the awards, and individual events.
More performers are expected to be announced on Monday, February 5 with the full list of Juno nominees being announced on Tuesday, February 6. The GATE will have ongoing coverage of all the announcements and events, so be sure to check in often for updates.
