The Glee-ks will inherit the Earth, and in a new competition on Global Television, offices across Canada are getting their chance to prove what they can do on stage, all in the name of charity.

Unlike all the other competitions out there, Canada Sings finds unlikely performers who are given a week to train and get their act together before they take to the stage singing pop songs and dancing their hearts out.

While teams might consist of co-workers from The Toronto Zoo and 1-800-Got-Junk, as in the first episode of the series, the judging is handled by the likes of Canada’s own Jann Arden, Pierre Bouvier from Simple Plan, and rapper import Rob Van Winkle, better known as Vanilla Ice.

Earlier this month I had a chance to chat with Juno-winner Jann Arden about her role on the show, the cover songs she loves to sing, and what it takes to choose a winner when charities are involved, and no one on stage is there to become famous.

Canada Sings airs Wednesdays on Global TV at 9:00 PM (ET).
