Tia Maria Coffee Raspberry Lemonade

Welcome to a cofftail summer, coffee lovers. Cofftails are the perfect fusion of coffee and cocktails, made for an afternoon or early evening treat, and you need to try them with Tia Maria.

After months of working from home, it’s easy to miss the after work cocktail, or that treat cappuccino from the corner coffee shop. These cocktails blend the two for something new and delicious, and courtesy of an expert, there are a number of ways to mix with the coffee liqueur.

It’s amazing tasting just how versatile Tia Maria can be in a range of cocktails, with flavours you may not expect.

Tia Maria Ambassador, Aaron Male, said, “It’s so versatile. Yes, it’s rum, it’s coffee, it’s vanilla, but depending on how you mix it into a cocktail, it can elevate the cocktail in so many different ways.”

In your backyard, on the balcony, or at the cottage, a coffee cocktail is unique for entertaining or relaxing. They can be sweet, energizing, and refreshing, and wait until you try one of my new favourites, the Coffee Raspberry Lemonade.

The recipe for Tia Maria dates back to the 1600s in Jamaica, and blends overproof Jamaican rum with Madagascar vanilla and 100% cold brewed Arrabica coffee. It’s a perfect addition to coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or even ice cream, but you can really glow-up lots of different kinds of cocktails with the coffee liqueur.

Aaron suggests that you can use Tia Maria in place of sweet vermouth in just about any cocktail, whether you’re talking about a Manhattan or a Rob Roy.

Tia Maria also has a number of excellent cocktails on their website, from Tia Tonic and a Tia Flat White Russian, to a Tia Groni.

My three favourite Tia Maria cocktails are below, for your summer relaxing and entertaining, and you can pick up the liqueur at the LCBO in Ontario.
