Who knew that a vacuum could put a smile on your face? The Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute is a powerful, versatile, and very impressive cordless vacuum that will change your cleaning routine.
Featuring Dyson’s most powerful motor so far, that spins up to 125,000rpm, the Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute can last for up to an hour of cleaning, with a larger bin than its predecessors, and six tools for floors, crevices, and even blinds.
Best of all, the power of the V10 also comes with the quietest motor to date.
Design & Features
The Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute features a design that’s similar to previous Cyclone models, but with a number of improvements. The biggest improvement being the bin, that now holds a lot more dirt, and it’s a lot easier to clean out.
The bin is the same circumference as other Cylcones, but the chamber is a lot longer, and inside there’s a mechanism that helps clear out debris and hair, so you generally shouldn’t need to reach inside at all when emptying the vacuum.
That mechanism generally works on the first try, but at the worst I had to push it a couple of times to clear out stubborn hair that had wrapped around the inside chamber.
With the V10 you can also adjust the suction between a low, medium, and high setting, perfect for varying conditions where you may not need as much power.
The tools, the wand, and the connecting points, also feel more secure and easier to detach or connect with the V10. That’s a benefit I believe would impact the longevity of the vacuum, and also the ease-of-use any time you’re using it.
As before, you can use the vacuum with just the body and a tool, or with the wand and then a tool, making it extremely useful whether you need to vacuum your living room, or your car.
Finally, the whole vacuum feels a bit easier to hold in every configuration, because the body has a better centre of balance. It is slightly heavier than other models, which may be a concern for some users, but at 2.68 kg, it’s possible to use it one-handed for many people.
Using the V10, you do need to hold down the trigger while you vacuum, but it’s a very light pull to use, and means that you won’t run down the battery by mistakenly leaving it on.
The tools that come with the vacuum are obviously the most important part of the vacuum, and the V10 Absolute has every angle covered. Included is the soft roller cleaner head for hard floors, the torque drive cleaner head for carpets, the mini motorized tool for tough dirt and upholstered furniture, the combination tool for multi-surfaces and cleanups, a soft brush tool that works well on blinds, and a crevice tool.
The tools have not changed that much from previous models, which is mostly a good thing, although I’d love to see the carpet and hard floor tools made even a bit more durably. That said, they stand up well in overall use, and the carpet tool also now has a height adjustment option that helps depending on how deep you want to clean your carpets, or for adjusting to deep shag versus flatter rugs.
Compared to the V6 Absolute, the new soft brush tool was one of my favorite additions (which also comes with the V8) as it’s useful for places where you may want to use a vacuum with longer bristles that won’t damage anything. With the wand, it’s ideal for dusting things that are out of reach, and because you can adjust the power to low or medium, you don’t have to worry about damaging anything.
Price & Wrap-up
The Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute retails for $799, and while it is pricier than older models or some competitors, it’s an incredibly powerful stick vacuum with an exceptional battery life, especially when it’s used on the medium power setting.
In my home we have a cat that leaves a fair bit of hair behind in the carpets, and compared to the V6 the amount of hair the V10 picks up is very impressive. After using the vacuum throughout our house, the floors have never been cleaner, and the soft brush really makes cleaning the blinds a lot easier.
If you’re looking for a new vacuum, and you want to save on space, with a device that can still do it all, the Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute is hard to top.
And if you’ve never used a Dyson before, the V10 is going to feel life-changing, especially on carpets.
