In honour of next week’s release of Source Code on DVD and Blu-ray, and because it’s one of my favorite topics, this week for DVD Tuesday I’m counting down the ten best time travel movies. From science fiction, action, adventure, and horror, to comedy, and even a romantic comedy or two, these movies cover almost every genre, and I’m ranking them not just on how great the movie is, but also, how well they approach a time travel story.
Jean-Claude Van Damme
Out on DVD this week, Jean-Claude Van Damme plays an introspective version of himself in JCVD; The Uninvited takes another stab at recreating the success of another Asian horror film; Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway star in the comedy Bride Wars; and Taking Lives, starring Angelina Jolie, debuts on Blu-ray.
His name is Bond, James Bond, and he’s back in Quantum of Solace with a fight to take down the man who killed the one woman he loved. Also opening this weekend, John Boyne novel, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas shows the friendship between two boys in the midst of the terrors of the Holocaust. Plus, in select markets, check out Jean-Claude Van Damme as himself in JCVD.
