The Toronto Fringe Festival has been bringing laughs, surprises and cutting-edge theatre to Toronto for 25 years. Tickets are now on sale for this year’s event. The 2013 Toronto Fringe Festival includes 148 shows in 35 venues including bars, back alleys, churches and a coin laundromat.

Only half of tickets are put up for sale in advance. Adult tickets go for $11 in advance, and $10 at the door. Children’s tickets are $5 regardless.

Opening ceremonies will be held at the Fringe Club on July 3 at 4:30 p.m. and will include a free performance by Hooded Fang. The Fringe Club will host various events and programming over the course of the festival including the Visual Fringe art market, discussions at the Tent Talks series and musical performances. At night the Fringe After Dark series will include ghost stories, truth or dare, and an adult craft night.

To celebrate their 25th anniversary, the Toronto Fringe Festival has special programming planned. On Saturday, July 6 there will be an Underground Dance Party with the tag line “Party like it’s 1989.” On Thursday, July 11 there will be a 25th Anniversary Alumni Party at the Transac Club. An interactive Cell Phone Scavenger Hunt will include Fringe trivia, missions and geographic clues with a $350 prize.
