6 new Christmas songs & covers for your party playlists

by W. Andrew Powell
Merry Christmas

Get out the holly and the mistletoe, open a bottle of wine, and play some Christmas songs, because the big day is nearly here. To help spread some of the Christmas joy, I’ve picked six wonderful, festive, and unique songs that you probably haven’t heard before from a mix of Indie bands and artists.

The playlist features The Great Escape‘s “Season of Love”, “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of Year” by alxxa, “Baby It’s Cold Outside” by Lexi Jayde and Emery Kelly, “The Christmas Song” by Ori Dagan and Renée Yoxon, Echosmith’s cover of “I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day”, and a fantastic new track, “Another Lonely Christmas” by Tom Chaplin.

Watch The Great Escape’s video for “Season of Love”, one of my new favorite holiday tracks (if you want to support the band, you can contribute at playitforward.com), and then scroll down for the full Holiday Mix playlist.

Holiday Mix 2017

About The Great Escape: “A genre-busting, foot-stomping three-piece from Venice, California, The Great Escape are about to return 2017 with their unique blend of raw energy song craft: Self-produced in their own studio, Universe In Bloom sees the West Coast trio joined by some of the best musicians and studio wizards in the industry to create a timeless sound that’s both unique and strangely familiar, rough and infectious.”

About alxxa: “The music of artist alxxa has been creating buzz in her hometown of Wilmington, Delaware, to her new home of Nashville, Tennessee, and on tour worldwide. Blending intelligent instrumental arrangements with haunting vocals and modern electronic production influences, alxxa’s fresh take on pop music is sure to transport listeners.”
