Watch: Century Surfers’ “The Storm”

Take a step back and listen to “The Storm,” a refreshing melodic rock single by Toronto’s Century Surfers that revisits old school classics with a modern edge.

Roddy Colmer and guitarist Jamie Gutfreund came together over their love of 90s rock, like Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden. The duo decided to follow that style of rock, but with modern techniques, and Colmer adding in his distinct melodies.

Century Surfers also teamed up with Saga’s Dusty Chesterfield to produce “The Storm,” and it’s not hard to hear how they worked together to pay tribute to an era of alternative rock that shaped so many artists today.

Prior to Century Surfers, Colmer was working solo after he was the lead singer of rock & reggae band Rebel Emergency, as well as Most Non Heinous.

Gutfreund on the other hand is an anchor on CP24, but over the years he’s also been moonlighting as a guitarist for a number of bands.
