Gallery: Juno Cup in Vancouver

by W. Andrew Powell

The 2009 Juno Awards celebrated hockey and music on Friday, but for the first time ever, music edged out the night.

During the annual Juno Cup, held at UBC’s Thunderbird Arena, some of Canada’s best musicians faced off against NHL legends, and somehow the musicians edged won the night.

Led by Jim Cuddy, “The Rockers” managed to tie the game with 11 points before winning the game in an overtime shootout.

Money raised from the night goes to the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences’ music charity, MusiCounts.
