Listen: Dayton James’ “Change My Ways”

Toronto singer and songwriter Dayton James brings the perfect vibes for his very smooth R&B single, “Change My Ways”. The song is a cool drink on a hot day, and it came from his reflections on relationships.

“‘Change My Ways’ is a song about every time I’ve felt down, and how my mood/selfish ways can get in the way of my relationships and their growth,” James said. “I always feel like people deserve better when I’m in that state of mind; the last thing I want to do is drag anyone down there with me to ultimately sink.”

James, who grew up in the UK, fell in love with music as a kid, after a YouTube video of his singing made its way around school. Since then he’s written for other artists, including Shaggy, and recently signed a publishing deal.

“Change My Ways” is from James’ EP, Nonnative Vol, 1, that also features recent singles “AshTray”, and “Already Won”.
