Listen: Långbacka/Bådagård’s “Solsbury Hill”

Långbacka/Bådagård

Långbacka/Bådagård’s “Solsbury Hill” is a refreshingly distinctive take on Peter Gabriel’s incredible classic, and it feels like a folk/pop song made for Spring.

Singers and multi-instrumentalists Maja Långbacka and Matilda Bådagård call their style “pop with a folk soul,” and it shows in the track that’s a mix of classic folk fiddle, pop beats, and gorgeous harmonies.

The duo blend Irish folk, Americana, Brazilian beats, and traditional Scandinavian folk for a sound that’s very unique. Their musical fingerprint strongly features fiddle, samplers, loops, and minimalist arrangements that float on bright pop rhythms. That comes as well from the fact that Långbacka favours traditional folk music, while Bådagård favours jazz and pop.

In 2019 they released their debut album, Wake Us Up, and it’s beautiful, at times haunting, and uplifting with dark undertones.
