The Cool Quest’s “Punisher”

The Cool Quest

The Cool Quest’s “Punisher” is one of the slickest singles I’ve heard this year, and the band has a genre-crossing sound and style that’s completely addictive.

Part blues, part pop and alternative, with contemporary R&B, the track is bold, and the vocals are fantastic. It’s a song that gets stuck in your head more and more each play, and the lyrics tell a story that sticks with you.

Some tracks are a snack; “Punisher” is a meal.

“The song is about running away from trouble,” the band said. “The problems will only keep on stacking up, that’s why his relationship is on the line, that’s why she wants out. Why are you running away, cause the punisher’s coming in the end. ‘Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone’ kinda vibes.”

Working on a number of new singles for 2020, the Dutch band is reflecting on our fast-paced lives as inspiration.

Formed in 2010, almost by accident during a jam session, they admit, The Cool Quest has played over 500 festival shows, with international radio play and multiple hit singles.
