Montreal’s San James opens up with her latest single, “Otherwise”, and it’s a bold, moving portrait of the artist.

What I love about the single is that it’s somber and beautiful, but it’s also uplifting, and the video offers an even deeper window into the story that adds a lot to the track.

San James wrote the song in just 30 minutes, but it’s a nuanced, complex single with powerful lyrics that talk about her depression and anxiety at the time.

In 2016, she debuted with her EP No One Changes Overnight, followed by Bridges in 2018. Since then she’s earned plays on radio stations across Canada, and CBC Radio 3’s charts.
