Calling all NXNE ’09 bands

In just a few days there will be 500 bands across the city of Toronto taking part in this year’s NXNE (that would be North by Northeast for the newbs).

That, my friends, is a lot of music, and I don’t know about the rest of you, but I always have a hard time deciding who to check out. There really is only so much time in a night, that’s why I’m putting out an open call to all NXNE bands and artists to show The GATE’s readers what they’ve got and why they need to check you out.

Use the form below (which will be active until Thursday at noon, ET) to tell us about your band. Plus, and this is the important part, upload or provide a link to a song you want us to feature on the site.

Here are the particulars you need to know:

Only upload a song you have the right to provide us, and that you want us to feature. By giving The GATE access to the song, you’re giving us permission to post it. (Don’t worry though, we’re only streaming it – it won’t be available for download.)

Songs have to be MP3s and under 6 Mb.

Give us a short (under 150 words) description of the band and/or why we need to check you out.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, don’t forget to tell us when and where you’re playing.

We will feature the best artists submitted every day this week starting tomorrow, so stay tuned. NXNE coverage kicks off on Wednesday, June 17, and the festival runs until Sunday night.
