The 2018 Mini Cooper Countryman ALL4 is like nothing else on the road. The Mini Countryman is a joy to drive, and it’s a beautiful car with a comfortable, roomy interior, and a surprising amount of space.
Fall is my favorite season for travel. The leaves are changing, the weather is perfect for cozy sweaters, and there’s nothing like a walk in the woods, a hike, or maybe a trip to an orchard to pick apples. My family celebrated fall foliage last week with our first trip to the Westin Trillium House, Blue Mountain near Collingwood, Ontario, and it was a fun escape with a view, fresh air, and a chance to explore Blue Mountain.
Put me in a car, with the open road, and I may be just about the happiest guy around. My family and I went on a road trip, from Toronto to Sault Ste. Marie, and we drove a 2017 Ford Flex on an adventure that included parks, beaches, bugs, science, history, and a lot of fun together in our amazing province. It was a getaway that showed off why road trips can be so much fun, and why Ontario is such an incredible place to live.
There are dozens of great destinations within a short drive of Toronto, and one of the best, whether you go in summer, spring, fall or winter, is Collingwood and the Blue Mountains. During a recent trip in the Ford Flex Limited, my family and I had a chance to escape and really take the beautiful area in while testing out the vehicle.
Weekend road trips are the best kind of adventure, and on Saturday I had a fun trip out of town, right here in Ontario’s glorious back yard thanks to Ford and the 2017 Escape. The real adventure might just be that I had no idea where Ford was going to send me though right up until I left my door, but I knew I was in for something special with their #EscapeAndDiscover weekend.
Over the weekend, Ford took a few writers and photographers out of Toronto to #EscapeAndDiscover parts of Ontario, while getting a chance to check out the new 2017 Ford Escape, Titanium Edition, and what it had to offer. My team–Team Green–was whisked away to Sarnia where we picked up the Escape and drove on to Owen Sound. Read the full story, and scroll down to check out the gallery from each part of the trip.
“It’s been an incredible journey,” director Andrew Cividino admits. Ever since his film Sleeping Giant debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015, it’s been very well received everywhere its been, from the Toronto International Film Festival, to the 29 countries and 45 festivals where it screened around the world. Then, the indie success story topped itself thanks to Toronto audiences who recently helped the film earn North America’s highest film per screen average during its opening weekend.
LCD Soundsystem, Arcade Fire, The Killers, Major Lazer, M83, HAIM, Chvrches and sixty other artists will hit the stage this summer in Ontario, from July 22 to 24, as WayHome Music and Arts festival returns to Burl’s Creek Event Grounds for a second year.
After two days of learning about whisky–and drinking some too–I have to say a big thank-you to Canadian Club and their Brand Centre in Walkerville for hosting me for a really interesting and exceptional little adventure. The trip was a history lesson and a connoisseurs field trip rolled up into one, featuring Canadian Club’s whiskys and some great local treats, and I also can’t help but thank Canadian Club’s Global Brand Ambassador Tish Harcus for passing on some of her extensive knowledge about the company and how they make their delicious whisky.
At the start of September, the St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market suffered a major loss as their historic main building burnt to the ground. The story made the national news, but what a lot of people didn’t realize was that the market was still open for business after the massive fire.
