Ben Giroux talks Big Nate, Valentine’s vomit, and Nickelodeon

Ben Giroux and Big Nate

Get ready for classes like nowhere else at P.S. 38, the weird and wonderful school at the centre of Big Nate, Paramount+’s original new series with six-grader Nate Wright at the heart of it all.

Based on Lincoln Peirce’s hugely popular books and comic strip, Big Nate stars the hilarious Ben Giroux as Nate Wright, a determined, charming, and mischievous kid with a knack for getting into trouble alongside his friends, and sometimes the whole school.

The animation and style is like no other series, and it’s fresh, funny and original in a way that’s perfect for kids and adults. I love the sense of humour, and it’s a series that’s going to be a huge hit.

You’ll know Giroux for his work on other Nickelodeon series like Henry Danger and The Adventures of Kid Danger, where he played The Toddler, but he also appeared on Hart of Dixie and The Big Show Show, and voiced characters for The Loud House, and DC Super Hero Girls.

I sat down with Giroux to talk about the new series, the fun of playing Nate with his particular sense of humour, that vomitous Valentine’s episode, and one of his dreams with Nickelodeon. Watch the full interview with Giroux below and follow him on TikTok.

Big Nate also stars Dove Cameron, Rob Delaney, Bryce Charles, Daniel MK Cohen, Arnie Pantoja, Charlie Schlatter, and Kevin Michael Richardson, to name a few. Plus catch Jack Black in the series premiere.

Big Nate is streaming now on Paramount+.
