Disney Treasure dreams: How to have a magical day onboard

The Grand Hall on the Disney Treasure

Disney Cruises are magical, and there are a million ways to have a wonderful day onboard, but I think that I’ve planned the perfect day on the Disney Treasure.

The Disney Treasure is my favourite Disney ship, at least so far, and that’s for a lot of reasons. It’s the perfect size, there is a lot to see and do on board, and I love the way that the ship captures the spirit of adventure in every little detail.

While I love a good port excursion, and exploring every destination, I could spend a week doing everything on the Treasure. With that in mind, this is my idea for the perfect grown-up day on the Treasure, to make the most of a magical cruise.

Reflect before you snack

There are no bad rooms on the Disney Treasure, but a stateroom with a verandah gives you the space to have a perfect start to your day. Get up and step outside to take in the ocean views, the sun rising over the waves, and fresh air! Having a verandah gives you the most wonderful spot for some quiet time, to read a book, or talk about your day with your family and travelling companions.

After a little fresh air, go and enjoy breakfast at the dining room for a slow, relaxed morning. You can order room service, or head to Marceline Market for breakfast, but the rotational dining restaurants make breakfast to order, and it’s a perfect, refreshing start to any day when you’re not in a hurry. Be sure to check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app to see which restaurant is serving breakfast.

If you enjoy a good coffee as much as I do, the morning is a good time to order something unique at Jade Cricket Café or Heihei Café. These casual little cafes are a treat, and you’ll likely end up having a conversation with someone there. I’ve always had the best experiences with the baristas at the cafes.

Sit down and savour your drink at the cafe, enjoy one of the seats around the Grand Hall, or take it up the pool deck for some sun.

Wonders surround you

Get changed for a swim and head to deck 13 and the amazing AquaMouse for a spin, or two, around the ship! The AquaMouse is so much fun, it’s fast and it’s a great way to cool off with Mickey and Minnie on a hot day.

While you’re enjoying the sun deck, take a chance to relax in the pool, or the hot tub in the adults only section. There are 10 pools on the ship, so there are lots of places to cool off and unwind.

Dry off, and head to Mickey’s Mainsail for some shopping. I love the clothes, from the t-shirts to the hoodies, and you can find great gifts for family and friends, and even special items to decorate your home.

If you’re starting to feel peckish, head to deck 11 and Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods, where you can find tacos at Donald’s Cantina, amazing brisket at Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue, pizza at Daisy’s Pizza Pies, and burgers at Goofy’s Grill. Marceline Market also has a good buffet lunch, but I love sitting along the deck and having tacos.

If you’re looking to chill out, head to Quiet Cove to get a little sun or shade, order a cocktail, have a nap, or maybe swim in the pool that looks out over the back of the ship. For some more excitement, go play against your family or friends at Hero Zone, with some air hockey or ping pong. If you want to get in some steps or catch great views of the ocean, the deck 4 promenade is ideal.

But for now, let’s eat up

Dinner on the Treasure is a treat no matter where you sit. I absolutely loved 1923, the ship’s classy and classic-inspired rotational restaurant, not to mention the incredible Mexican dishes at Plaza de Coco, and the flare of Worlds of Marvel. But if you’re enjoying a week-long cruise on the Treasure, one night should be reserved for something extra special.

Whether you pick French dishes at Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement, or go with an Italian-inspired meal at Palo Steakhouse, both restaurants offer exceptional service and dining. There is an additional cost for the restaurants, but they both offer meals that you won’t forget, and the atmosphere is everything, with stunning views.

If you can make it at sunset, and you still want to catch a little more sun while you caffeinate, head to the Cove Café for your favourite coffee or tea, and watch the sky change over the end of the ship, or relax in the cozy vibes of the cafe.

The ocean is a friend of mine

After dinner, it’s time to enjoy one of the best things on the Disney Treasure: The Tale of Moana. This Broadway-style musical brings the film to life on stage with incredible performers, larger than life sets and puppets, special effects, and all of the songs.

On top of the show, the Walt Disney Theatre itself is a wonderful venue, and they put on other shows here, including Beauty and the Beast.

Be sure to grab a popcorn at the concession stand, and sit back for a show that you can’t see anywhere else.

If you’re looking for a movie, you can also catch a wide range of Disney, Pixar, and Marvel films playing throughout the day in the Wonderland and the Never Land Cinemas.

Welcome, foolish mortals

While the kids are enjoying the kids clubs–whether it’s Disney’s Oceaneer Club, Edge, or Vibe–it’s a perfect chance to go bar hopping, because the Treasure has a few really amazing spaces.

All of the bars offer zero proof cocktails, so everyone can enjoy something tasty, and the mood will whisk you away.

Head to The Rose for a Beauty and the Beast inspired experience that’s perfect before or after dinner. Visit Scat Cat Lounge for a jazzy vibe, complete with a baby grand piano and the telltale footprints of The Aristocats.

Periscope Pub on the other hand takes inspiration from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, with a sports bar theme that includes specialty beer on tap. Or for live music and some of the best cocktails that I had on the ship, drop into Skipper Society with its very relaxed Jungle Cruise theme.

And for the best themeing on the ship, you have to visit The Haunted Mansion Parlor! It’s like stepping into the actual attraction, but you get to enjoy cocktails and stay for the atmosphere. It’s one of the best spaces on the entire ship, and it comes alive every few minutes with something new.

Second star to the right, and straight on ’til morning

Night time on a Disney cruise is one of my favourite opportunities to wander, when it’s usually wonderfully quiet. There’s a little magic everywhere, so go take a walk, visit the Grand Hall for The Kiss Goodnight at midnight, watch a movie on Funnel Vision, if it’s not too late, or sit out on your balcony and listen to the ocean.

If I had to say something really indulgent to add to the perfect day, it’s this: order room service and get Mickey ice cream bars delivered for a late night treat. After all, it’s not every day that you get to enjoy the magic of a Disney Cruise.
