Project Y is a tense Neo-noir crime drama about two women desperately trying to change their lives with a heist that will make or break them, starring South Korea’s Han So-Hee and Jeon Jong-seo.
Premiering last week at the Toronto International Film Festival, and set to screen at the Busan International Film Festival, Project Y is a dark but hopeful film, and I had a chance to chat with the stars alongside director Lee Hwan.

“They have grown up together since they were young, in a relationship that is almost like family,” Han So-Hee said, “though they’re not blood relatives… they have similar goals and dreams, and they are rushing towards them.”
Jun Jong-seo called it a “love-hate relationship” at times, between the women. “It’s a relationship where we complement each other’s shortcomings,” she added. “Ultimately, it’s just the two of us, and we have each other. That’s why we’re inseparable.”
“This movie is the story of two girls at the bottom,” director Lee Hwan said. “The story of how these characters survive and grow, and the choices that they make.”
Lee said that he appreciated working with Han and Jun, even through tough filming days, all while discovering the power that they brought to the roles.
