CMW 2012: Thursday picks

Jordan Cook

Thirteen years. Unless I can’t count, I am pretty sure this will be my thirteenth year covering Canadian Music Week, or more specifically, what is now called Canadian Music Fest. (Yes, that does, indeed, make me feel old, but then again I’ve been doing this since I was 24, when I wasn’t so old at all.)

Since my time is short, as I’m getting ready to head out for the night, I wanted to pass on a few recommendations for tonight, the second night of the festival. You can find the full schedule for the full festival at

Horseshoe Tavern, 370 Queen St. West

(Also, Friday March 23, 2012 @ 12:00AM – Gladstone Hotel)

(You can also catch them Saturday at The Indies)

Finally, I also wanted to give a shout out to one of The GATE’s long-time friends, Katie Rox, who is performing tonight at Czehovski (678 Queen Street West) at 1:00 AM with a full band, and tomorrow night at Central (603 Markham Street) at 1:00 AM solo. Check out her video below.

Czehovski has a pretty fantastic lineup tonight, actually, for singer-songwriters, including Stacey Kaniuk at 10:00 PM, Robyn Dell Unto at 11:00 PM, and Paula Perri at midnight.
