New York City, exploring my favourite city, and the latest from OnePlus

by W. Andrew Powell

Travel makes me happy, and I have a lot of favourite places, including Los Angeles, Chicago, and Boston, but there’s nowhere like New York City, and I had a great trip back to the Big Apple last week.

OnePlus invited media to New York to preview the OnePlus 10T, and while I was there testing out the new phone I also had time to rediscover the city again. Even with three full days to explore, it was hardly enough to do half of what I wanted to check out.

Every time I’ve stayed in New York I’ve been in a different area, and this time I was in Midtown Manhattan near the Empire State Building, the New York Public Library’s gorgeous Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, and one of my favourite small parks, Bryant Park.

Over three days I walked a bit over 20 miles, up to Central Park, and down to the Flatiron Building, plus a little time in the Garment District, and the Brooklyn Bridge Park, and even it the heat they had last week, it was amazing to see the city again.

I love that you can still skate in the Rockefeller Center in the summer, only it’s roller skating, and there’s a bunch of new experiences, like The Ride, a theatrical adventure on a bus that tours the city.

Most of all it was fantastic finding new places since I was there last, getting a meal at the restaurant in Central Park, catching a bit of a movie in Bryant Park, and rediscovering the city. I ended up spending an hour in the library just looking around, I had a Parisian style breakfast in Bryant Park with goodies from Angelina Paris NYC, and it was nice just to sit down in a park and watch the city go by.

I also had the most incredible dinner at Havana NY, a restaurant I highly recommend on W 38th St, especially if you love Cuban food.

I didn’t do half the touristy things I had hoped to do, like Top of the Rock, or getting to the Oculus, or down to the Battery, but it was a great trip.

Beyond seeing NYC again, I have to say a big thanks to OnePlus for the fantastic hospitality. They had a great evening of drinks at Hotel Hendricks’ Daintree, and a fantastic evening at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge.

The OnePlus 10T is a performance-focused smartphone with some seriously great power, thanks to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, 160W SuperVooc charging that gets the phone from 0% to 100% in just under 20 minutes, and it has awesome cameras for great vacation photos.

Stay tuned for more on the OnePlus 10T, my New York travels, and a photo gallery captured with the phone coming up soon. Until then, watch my NYC vlog at the top of the story, or let me know if you have any questions in the comments.
