E3 dreams and speculation

by W. Andrew Powell

People are always making all sorts of wild guesses about what will come out of E3 each year (or as it’s now known, the E3 Media & Business Summit 2007) – the trick is trying to imagine what might actually be inside information that’s trickled out of one company or another, and what’s just wild fantasy.

I have no real clue what’s real or not, but there’s some interesting gossip out there.

For weeks there have been guesses about whether or not Sony would drop the price of the PlayStation 3 – and today they announced that they would drop the price by $100.

I’m hoping we’ll get some more details on Fable 2, although it’s hard to say what’s ready (they already announced back in March that you’ll have a pet dog this time around – check out the IGN article).

I think I’m really dreaming here, but I want Microsoft to announce that they’re planning an Xbox 360-related handheld game unit similar to the Zune, but I’d settle for the MP3 player to get a release date in Canada.

A lot of folks are talking about a PlayStation Portable redesign in the form of a lighter model with more battery life, but I’m not going to hold my breath.

Maybe we’ll finally get some solid word on the release of Too Human!?

And then there’s all the other games and other tidbits that could drop over the next week – some of you are probably drooling about Nintendo news (I’m not one of you, sorry), but I guess I’m just eager to see anything that will mean a good fall in games land. Summer hasn’t been bad, but it’s been a while since there’s been a killer title out and I’m dying for something really good.

Stay tuned, I’ll have more on the site as it comes along.
