Like a lot of people, my phone comes with me everywhere, and it's my go-to device for capturing the moment. From events, to travel, and heading to the park with my family, my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is my favorite device for photos and video because of its dual cameras, loads of features, and great performance in all kinds of lighting conditions.
Twenty years ago, our vision of the future was pretty spectacular, and obviously way, way off. Where are our jetpacks, hoverboards, flying cars, and robots? What I love though is that the future is starting to look easier and more comfortable, without any of the wacky new gadgets we might have dreamed about. If you want an example of that, just look at the Samsung Connected Home, a space that Samsung Canada set up at their head office to show off the possibilities for a smart and connected home.
Samsung Canada revealed the Galaxy S9 and S9+ from Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today, and the mobile phones offer a host of new features: Super Slow-mo, Dual Aperture lens, AR Emoji, stereo speakers, and upgrades to Samsung's Infinity Display.

Stranger Things is back! I have a pretty short list of shows that I truly adore, and Stranger Things is right near the top, so I was thrilled when the second season debuted last Friday on Netflix. Now Aisha and I just need to find enough time to watch the rest of it, but I kind of appreciate taking a few weeks to see it all. I'm all for binging now and then, but for some shows it's also nice to take a little time to let a show sink in.
Hand me a new cell phone to try, and I'll probably end up playing with the camera within a few minutes--it's my go-to feature because first and foremost I love taking pictures. The technology on mobile devices has also come a long way in the last five years, and they now offer impressive options compared to a standard camera. So when I had the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to play with for a month, I ended up shooting a lot of photos and videos--over 1300 photos, and close to an hour of video.
Summer is around the corner, I just got back from a Canada 150 road trip with Ford, and there are only 85 days until the Toronto International Film Festival. There is a lot going on, but the festival is front of mind since I'm prepping The GATE's Interview Lounge at TIFF, and my accreditation application came in Monday too.
Father's Day is right around the corner, graduates are celebrating, and for the active guy in your life, or the dad who wants to be more active, we're giving away a Samsung Gear S3 Frontier to keep him connected and motivated.
Samsung gave me an early look at the Galaxy S8 last week, two days after their Samsung Unpacked event in New York City. Demoing the new devices to media last Friday, Samsung showed off some of the big changes, including one of the big new ways you can use the S8.
March is almost over and it's been a fun month, and just a tad more relaxed than I expect in April. A little down time is welcome, and it's certainly easy to hibernate when the weather is not so hot out. There has still been a lot to do though, and this weekend would have been a lot busier if I'd been able to make the Juno Awards, but I'll be watching the festivities from Toronto.
Canadian television has been very strong for well over a decade now, but the last couple of years have definitely been a peak, and 2017 starts with no less than four great new series: Pure on CBC, Mary Kills People and Ransom on Global, and Cardinal on CTV.
