Watch: Accolades’ debut video for funky “Electric Groove”

Accolades - Electric Groove

Accolades’ “Electric Groove” is a fun, fresh, and funky jazz extravaganza, featuring a jaw-dropping trumpet solo by Caban jazz star Alexis Baro, and a whole lot of love for their home town.

The 8-piece Funk-Fusion band from Toronto has worked hard on their sound for a number of years, and they consider the city’s music programs an integral part of what helped shaped their sound and style, particularly the Humber and York University Jazz programs, not to mention the city’s long-standing venues, like Lee’s Palace, The Hideout, and the Horseshoe.

Upbeat, joyous jazz-funk with classic RnB and rock mixed in for good measure, “Electric Groove” shows off some of the band’s best work to date. The song feels a bit like a prelude to summer, and all of the great live music coming our way to stages across the city in 2018.

Signed to independent label Akashic Rekords earlier this year, the band is working on their second EP, Whatchu Got?, which will be released late in 2018.

Accolades are Thomas Thurley on lead vocals, Michael Shanahan on guitar, Sandy Murphy on bass, Mark Athanasiadis on drums, Corey Weinberg on percussion, Luke Wriglesworth and Bobby Shaw on saxes, Kyle Windjack on trumpet, and Andrew Gormley and Nick Marshall on trombones. With special guest Alexis Baro on the trumpet solo.
