Winter in Toronto is a tough time, especially for your skin. It’s cold and dry, and after weeks of wind and windchill, it’s hard not to feel a bit chafed. That’s where the Divine Body Treatment at the Miraj Hammam Spa by Caudalie–located on the fifth floor of the elegant Shangri-La Hotel–comes in for some much-needed rejuvenation and relaxation.

So what is it exactly that puts the “Divine” in the Divine Body Treatment? The 60-minute treatment uses Caudalie’s Divine Oil, which is a soothing blend of grapeseed, argan, hibiscus, and sesame oils, plus aromatic notes of rose, vanilla, with woody undertones.

The pampering at the Miraj Hammam Spa starts with 30 minutes of exfoliation that uses a brown sugar scrub mixed with 100 aloe vera gel. While the brown sugar scrub removes dead and dry skin, the Divine Oil revives the skin underneath. After the exfoliation comes a refreshing shower to wash away the scrub, followed by a 30-minute relaxation massage using the Divine Oil once more, which further helps to refresh and moisturize your skin.

From the moment I arrived at the Miraj Hammam Spa though, the staff were so welcoming, it was easy to start relaxing before I even put on a robe. The space feels earthy and serene, and the treatment rooms themselves offer every luxury, from heated tables to showers that combine steam and shower heads for the ultimate deep cleansing–and comforting–break.

Of course, it’s the staff who make the Divine Body Treatment, and the spa experience, a luxury experience. I have a lot of respect for the work that goes into making a successful spa, including the building itself, but ultimately spas are only as good as the staff, and Miraj Hammam Spa have the best people working with them to make their treatments unforgettable.

I would also suggest that guys, who might not traditionally consider getting an exfoliation treatment, should consider booking the Divine Body Treatment. Whether you go on your own, or book the treatment with your partner, it’s a wonderful experience, and it will make your skin feel soft and fresh. I can’t think of a better way to scrub away the winter chill either.
