Kids outerwear essentials this fall from Columbia Sportswear

Kids outerwear from Columbia Sportswear

Back to school is a little harder than usual this year, and if you don’t want to go into a store, shopping for kids definitely feels more difficult. Columbia Sportswear has made life easier this fall though with outerwear my daughter loves, a Labour Day sale, and flexible shipping and return options.

Time and again, my wife and I have shopped for our daughter, and ended up with things she said she would wear, but then wouldn’t put it on again. When I got a Columbia fall jacket, shoes, and a backpack to keep her warm and dry this fall though, she put it on and didn’t want to take any of it off.

The Girls’ Burkes Bay Warm Lined Jacket ($94.99) comes in New Olive, Black, and the gorgeous Marsala Red, and it has a detachable hood, with Omni-Tech waterproof-breathable material, a snap pocket, and cuffs that you can adjust.

The jacket is light and warm, thanks to the Sherpa lining, and works well against wind and rain. It also just looks pretty fancy, if you ask me, and she thinks she looks very mature in it.

For something more fun, Columbia also has a Translucent Trail Rain Slicker ($69.99 to $79.99) that comes in four colours, including Collegiate Navy Camo Critters. While a lot of slickers can make kids feel very warm, this one doesn’t trap body heat, and the hood and cuffs have elastic in them so they don’t move around.

(Best of all, right now it’s also on sale for $31.12.)

There are also dozens of other coats for girls, with fun patterns and warm designs (even including some Frozen-themed Elsa jackets), or you can find a number of fleece hoodies, like the Fast Trek II Full-Zip Fleece Hoodie ($54.99).The hoodie has thumb loops, pockets, and comes in a range of colours for boys and girls.

Since it was also time for new shoes, the Spinner Shoe ($50.00) ended up being her favourites, and she wants to wear them all the time. The shoes are unisex and come in two tone designs; Dark Grey, Mountain Red or Earl Gray, Hot Coral.

The sneakers slip on easily, and they have Techlite cushioned midsoles, with mesh and they’re very comfortable, she said. Right now they’re only $19.98 and they come in Little Kid or Big Kid sizes.

Last, but not least, she needed a new backpack, and we loved the Zigazg 22L Backpack ($$49.99) that comes in six colours, including the same Marsala Red as her jacket with Malbec accents.

The everyday backpack is light, but can fit a lot, and for bigger kids there’s also a laptop sleeve, plus a water bottle pocket, a large front pocket, and the adjustable straps make sure the bag will fit any kid.

I’ve been a big fan of Columbia for years, and I love their hiking products, so I’m glad to see they also have so much my daughter loves too. It’s one thing to get her something that looks good, but it’s great knowing these are clothes she likes, and that they’ll easily last for a long time.

Thanks to my wonderful little model, and thanks to Columbia for the great outerwear this fall. Next up, I can’t wait to take her hiking this fall.

If you’re curious about Columbia’s sale, the Labour Day sale is on now until 9 PM (PT) on September 8, 2020, and almost everything on their website is 20% off, including kids and adult outerwear as well. So you can pick yourself up something new when you get them a fall jacket. No lines, no masks to get into a store–just browse the site, and add to cart.

Shipping is also flexible, and you can choose standard or expedited shipping, and they accept returns for 60 days after purchase, as long as it’s unworn with the tags still on the product.
