Men’s hiking essentials from Columbia | Holiday Gift Guides

Columbia Sportswear is my favourite hiking and outdoor clothing brand for a lot of reasons, starting with the quality of their jackets and shoes, to the price.

These hiking shoes make all the difference on the trail, especially when it’s wet or slippery.

The Columbia Facet 75 Alpha OutDry Shoe is a comfortable, lightweight, and waterproof hiker with incredible traction in a wide range of conditions. I hiked through mud, wet rocks, gravel, and sand on a recent trip, and they kept my feet dry, and the shoes gripped every surface.

Beyond their durable outer shell, the hiker has a cushioned sole that kept my feet comfortable throughout the whole hike. Over hours of wear they have lasted well, they’ve kept my feet protected, and while high tops can be good for some hiking trips, I love how these lower cut shoes fit and feel. Disney 100 Half-Snap Fleece | $130

For the Disney fans, the Disney 100 Half-Snap Fleece looks vintage and fits modern, with a zippered pocket, stretch cuffs, and a classic look. Breathable and surprisingly light, the half-snap fleece is made for cool days and adventures, whether you’re headed for a hike or a January day at Disneyland.

Star Wars fans will love Columbia’s new Skywalker Pilot Collection, and while there is a jacket, pullover, and hat, the Skywalker Pilot Long Sleeve Shirt is a great price, with a fun design.

Made from a heavyweight cotton-blend, with an iconic raised-silicone Rebel patch and Columbia logo, it’s a design that will make a great gift for fans old and new. I know a few dads who would geek out over it.
