The Speyside Tonic recipe with The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Year Old whisky

by W. Andrew Powell
The Balvenie Speyside Tonic

Whisky and tonic lovers will appreciate a unique spin on the classic recipe, with a delicious and refreshing blend of ingredients.

Playing off the flavours of The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Year Old whisky, the sophisticated and modern cocktail features Fino Sherry, Calvados, and tonic.

“The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Year Old stirs seamlessly into the savoury and light Speyside Tonic cocktail, a sophisticated pre-meal aperitif. The Speyside Tonic combines honeyed notes of the twelve-year-old single malt scotch with the nuttiness of Fino sherry, crisp fruitiness of Calvados and the slight dryness of tonic. Garnish with a skewer of Nocellara olives and enjoy the golden glow of this cocktail…”

About the whisky: The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Year Old matures in American Oak ex-bourbon barrels, and Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks. While the traditional casks adds classic character, the sherry casks adds depth and richness for a smooth, nutty, and sweet blend of flavours.

More ideas: Looking for more cocktail recipes with The Balvenie? The Balvenie Sweet Toast of American Oak pairs well with Oolong Tea, a cozy drink that is wonderful in the evening. The creamy and soft flavour of the tea blends beautifully with the candied orange peel and butterscotch flavours in the whisky. For one glass of tea, consider one ounce of whisky.
