Look at where a year took us! At the start of 2017, it seemed like 2016 was going to be hard to top. In 2016 I visited Hong Kong, L.A. for Hamilton Watch’s Behind the Camera Awards, and I had a lot of really incredible interviews. But 2017 topped all of my expectations.
Ford Edge
Canada is breathtaking. From coast to coast to coast, and along the border, Canada is a place of discovery, and even for those of us who live here, there are new adventures around every corner. In the fall, my family and I had a trip of a lifetime when we drove a 2017 Ford Edge from St. John’s, Newfoundland to the stunning Fogo Island, and stayed at the Fogo Island Inn.
There is an island on the edge of Canada that is unlike anywhere else in this beautiful country, and it’s my new happy place. Fogo Island is just a short ferry ride from Farewell, Newfoundland, but it feels like it’s a world away from anything else that you know. The quiet, serene island is a perfect balance of earth and sea, inhabited by kind, welcoming people, and filled with wonders that are often as simple as they are moving.
Driving is one of my very happy passions, but the funny thing is that I don’t actually own a car. For the last decade, I get my road trip fixes thanks to car rentals, and any time I need to get on four wheels, I’ve turned to one of the (now vanishing, it seems) rental locations in Toronto.
