Chasing Shakespeare, a movie about love, nature and lighting, will open the ninth Montreal International Black Film Festival. It is a love story about a young Native American woman who is searching for her destiny, set in rural Arkansas. After her death, her husband tries to reunite with her.

SyFy’s new series Defiance debuts on television next April, but it’s starting to feel much closer after I had a chance to do a set visit earlier this week, which revealed a lot about the series, and what we can expect to see when it brings aliens to our vastly different planet in the not-too-distant future.
