The skating trail at Arrowhead Provincial Park should be one of your bucket list travel plans this winter. There is really nothing like skating through the forest, and on special Fire and Ice nights at the park, you can skate under the stars, with the trail lit by torches.
Ontario Parks
The last few months have been challenging, especially when you’re talking about travel. I have big plans for 2022 though, and I think I have a few great ideas to make sure I’ll be going somewhere, even if all my travel ideas don’t work out.
Ontario is an incredible province, and it’s a huge place to explore. The fourth-largest province has dozens of interesting towns and cities, and includes the Canadian Shield, touches on the Hudson Bay to the north, the Great Lakes to the South, and it’s filled with stunning natural spaces.
There is nothing like looking up at the night sky, and seeing all the stars. It’s an awe-inspiring view, especially for those of us living in the city, and it’s not always a view we can enjoy because of light pollution.
Ontario Parks offer some of the best outdoor experiences in the province, and I can’t get enough of them, especially in the summer. My wife and I have stayed at most of the parks in southern Ontario, and one favourite is Bon Echo Provincial Park.
If I had the chance, some day I would love to spend the summer at a cabin or in an RV somewhere. Every year I look forward to summer vacation, and nothing really beats getting out of the city for a few days to one of Ontario’s incredible forests, nestled along a lake somewhere.
There is nothing as good for the soul as travel, if you ask me, and this year I’m already excited about a few family trips we’ve been planning.
