New this weekend in a theatre near you: the girls are back to their usual antics in Sex and the City 2; and Jake Gyllenhaal goes on an action-filled adventure in Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time.

The wait for James Cameron‘s massive big-screen epic is finally over this weekend as Avatar opens in theatres, and in IMAX. Also opening is the period drama The Young Victoria starring Emily Blunt, and the romantic comedy Did You Hear About the Morgans?
This might be one of the most interesting weeks for DVD releases that I have seen in months, and while not all of the movies are the best ever, there is one gem, and a few fun films. The best of the week is none other than Francis Ford Coppola‘s legendary Godfather collection, which has been fully restored. Less legendary, but very notable for a lot of fans is the release of Sex and the City: The Movie, and the comedies Run, Fatboy, Run, and Leatherheads.
Where would we be without Carrie, and her three friends from Sex and the City? Has the show changed how women see themselves, and approach men? Many people say absolutely, but even as pure entertainment there is no doubt the show marked the best years of network television. In the girl’s first forray on the big screen, will they be able to keep their fans interested for a full-length movie though?
