Disney Treasure Keel Laying

The maiden voyage of the Disney Treasure is a little closer this week as Disney Cruise Line held the keel laying ceremony for the new ship at Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany.

Keeping with the maritime tradition of placing a newly minted coin under the keel of the ship, for good fortune, Philip Gennotte, portfolio project management executive at Walt Disney Imagineering Germany showed off the commemorative coin.

Captain Minnie Mouse is featured on the coin, wearing her new outfit that she’ll be wearing on the cruise ship.

Disney Treasure will be the sixth ship in Disney Cruise Line’s fleet and the Grand Hall has been described as a “magical gathering space” drawing on influences of Asia and Africa, and it will feature statues of Aladdin and Jasmine.

“Get ready to soar on a shining, shimmering, splendid adventure, where the world we know meets fantastic worlds of the imagination. Sign up to be among the first to receive the latest updates as exciting new details are released.”

The Disney Treasure will be delivered to DCL in 2024, and it is the second of three new ships that are planned into 2025. The ship will feature 1,254 guest staterooms. Find out more about the Disney Treasure on DCL’s website.

DCL also recently revealed new images and details about Lighthouse Point, their upcoming new island destination in the Bahamas.
