There was lots of villainous news this morning at the Disney Villains: Icons of Evil panel at Destination D23, and my favourite part was about the Disney Destiny.
Walt Disney Imagineering’s Executive Creative Director, Caroline May, and Executive Producer, Wyatt Winter, revealed that Marvel’s Loki, Dr. Facilier from Princess and The Frog, and 101 Dalmations icon Cruella de Vil will make appearances on the new Heroes and Villains themed cruise ship. The best part is that guests have the chance to spend some time interacting with them.
Dr. Facilier will be lurking on the ship, he will have a “makeshift parlor,” and may just show off a card trick illusion if you catch him at the right moment. Disney called it a “meet and play” encounter, and he’s not the only character who will be involved.
Loki will show up trying to “rule over this realm” onboard, and he will wander around the ship now and then, too. “He may or may not make a proclamation every time that he sees a balcony,” May said. And there will be some other ways you can engage with him, May teased.
And Cruella de Vil seems to have at least two encounters you can take part in. During a panel in Toronto at Disney Cruise Line’s rehearsal space where they shared details about the Hercules musical on the ship, Jenny Weinbloom, VP, Live Entertainment, Disney Signature Experiences mentioned that guests would be able to show off their best (or worst) fashion on a runway for Cruella. Who knows what she’ll say about your fashion sense.
Today at Destination D23 the team revealed that you can also take part in “Troublemaking with Cruella,” where you can come up with a song to perform for Cruella and see what she thinks of it. Good luck impressing her!
