A lot of people tell me I’m a lucky guy when I tell them what I do. Let’s face it – running my own entertainment site that gives me access to celebrities, movies, music, and everything else is pretty sweet. The thing is, it’s not like I haven’t put a lot into it to get here. Luck has really very little to do with it – making contacts, working hours on end, and being persistant has really gotten me here, and I know how that sounds, but it’s absolutely true.

And yet, the other day when I looked at the list of media outlets who are accredited for the festival I couldn’t help but think I am lucky. When I applied the first year in 2001 I didn’t expect to get in at all, but the media representative at the time was more than kind, and ended up giving me tickets for 5 press screenings. The following year she gave me a full media pass, and the rest is history.

That may not be the exact definition of luck, but I have to admit that I feel pretty damn lucky. The folks who run the press office are awesome people, and while The GATE may not be the Hollywood Reporter, I’d like to think they see more than a little merit in my coverage. Hey, if nothing else, the photos are good – right?
